What is the Norfolk Railway Society?
With close to 100 members, we're a group of people who enjoy meeting to discover more about railways. We have a varied programme. At some meetings we will have a speaker usually illustrating their talk with images and/or video; other meetings are informal, with short contributions from members. We also put on a Show for the public every year.
When do you meet?
On the first and third Thursdays of each month from late September until May. Meetings begin at 7.30 pm and finish at about 9.45 pm. You're very welcome to come.
Where do you meet?
At the United Reformed Church Hall, Ipswich Road, Norwich NR4 6QR.

Are you only concerned with railways in Norfolk?
No: we're world-wide in our interests – but many members have a special interest in East Anglia's railways past and present.
Must I enthuse about 4-6-2s and Bo-Bos to be a member?
No: we're a surprisingly varied group of people. Some are steam enthusiasts, some prefer modern traction. Others simply enjoy rail travel and photography, UK or world-wide. We welcome young and old, men and women, experts and amateurs. We're all pro-rail, but we're not a political organisation.
Are there any outside visits?
There certainly are. Recent years have seen visits to the Bressingham Steam, Nene Valley Railway and Scunthorpe Steelworks railway. Closer to home, we also arrange at least one visit each summer to an East Anglian railway site.
How much does it cost?
£20.00 per year from 1st September 2022. There is no charge for meetings (£1 for refreshments) and you'll receive a copy of the Norfolk Railway Society Newsletter every two months.
How do I find out more?
You're welcome to come to a couple of meetings without obligation. Alternatively you can contact the Membership Secretary for more details. The subscription covers admission to meetings as well as a copy of the Society Newsletter currently published six times a year.
