We are a group of people who enjoy meeting to discover more about railways. We have a varied programme of meetings on the first and third Thursday of each month from late September through to May. We also put on a Show for members and the public every year. Read more...

NRS Meetings 2024/25
Meeting dates are listed below and will be updated as arrangements are finalised. Details will be emailed to members a few days in advance and also appear in our bi-monthly Newsletter. Meetings are held at URC Hall, Ipswich Road, Norwich unless stated.

2 January - Zoom Meeting - Robert Pritchard, Editor, Todays Railway UK makes a welcome return to present a review of UK railways over the past year.

16 January - Richard Keeys, NRS Chairman, presents Reminiscences of my Travels: Sheds, Works & Open Days.

6 February - The Bramley Line Heritage Railway - March to Wisbech by Clive Freeman.

20 February - Railway History of North-East from the Humber to the Tweed by Peter Willey.

6 March - Paul Standford presents From Chocolate to Cider - Paul's family railway history through 5 generations form 1862.  Over the past couple of years Paul has given two presentations to us on Zoom. We are now very pleased to welcome him to Norwich.

20 March - Deltics as Worthy Successors to the A4s - by Michael Smyth.

3 April - Newmarket and Chesterford Railway by Alan Denney.
 
17 April - East West Rail by Phil Marsh.

There will be no meeting on 1 May, due to local elections

8 May - David Gricing the move from Black and White to Colour by David Leathart.

15 May - Presentations by members of Ipswich & District Historical Transport Society. Details to follow.

Norfolk Transport Group 2024/25
Meetings at URC Hall, Ipswich Road, Norwich starting at 19.30. Organised by a group of NRS members these meetings cover a range of transport topics, not just railways. Members and non-members welcome. Pay £3 on the night.

Zoom Meetings - a link will be emailed to NRS members a couple of days before the meeting.

Thursday 23rd January - Zoom meeting - Mind the Gap – History of London Underground by Peter Lawrence.

Thursday 27th February - Zoom Meeting - Out and About with Chris King and Friends.
