NRS Meetings 2023/24 Meeting dates are listed below and will be updated as arrangements are finalised. Details will be emailed to members a few days in advance and also appear in our bi-monthly Newsletter. Meetings are held at URC Hall, Ipswich Road, Norwich unless stated. 19 September - Members' Evening. Short presentations/talks by members. 2024 material only please. 3 October - Building the new P2 Prince of Wales - Liz Gibson, Trustee, A1 Steam Locomotive Trust. 17 October - A talk by Dave Baston, Manager, Crown Point Depot, Norwich. 7 November - 28 February 1959, the day the M&GN closed - Richard Adderson. 21 November - Annual General Meeting followed by Chris Eve's Video Round-up of 2023. 5 December - The Woodhead Line - Revisited - Chris Mitchell. 19 December - Informal/social pre-Christmas meetings with seasonal refreshments. 2025 2 January - Zoom Meeting - Robert Pritchard, Editor, Railways Today UK presents a review of the UK railways over the past year. 16 January - Richard Keeys, Chairman 2023/24, presents a selection of his photographs from the steam and diesel ears. 6 February - To be arranged. This may be a Zoom meeting. 20 February - Railway History of North-East from the Humber to the Tweed by Peter Willey. 6 March - Paul Standford presents From Chocolate to Cider - Paul's family railway history through 5 generations form 1862. Over the past couple of years Paul has given two presentations to us on Zoom. We are now very pleased to welcome him to Norwich. 20 March - Deltics as Worthy Successors to the A4s - by Michael Smyth. 3 April - To be arranged. 17 April - East West Rail by Phil Marsh. There will be no meeting on 1 May, due to local elections 8 May - To be arranged 15 May - Presentations by members of Ipswich & District Historical Transport Society. Details to follow. If you can suggest speakers or topics for online talks or would like to make a presentation please Contact Andrew Wright, Webmaster Norfolk Transport Group 2023/24 Meetings at URC Hall, Ipswich Road, Norwich starting at 19.30. Organised by a group of NRS members these meetings cover a range of transport topics, not just railways. Members and non-members welcome.
