Welcome to Norfolk Railway Society
About Us

We are a group of people who enjoy meeting to discover more about railways. We have a varied programme of meetings on the first and third Thursday of each month from late September through to May. We also put on a Show for members and the public every year. Read more...

NRS Meetings 2022/23
We will be running a mix of in-person and online Zoom meetings this year. Our first meeting is at URC Hall, Ipswich Road, Norwich is on Thursday 15th September 2022 at 19.30. We look forward to welcoming you back.

Meeting dates are listed below and will be updated as arrangements are finalised. Details will be emailed to members a few days in advance and also appear in our bi-monthly Newsletter.

15th September - URC Hall - Railway Reminiscences (Part 2) - We welcome back Peter Willey following his most enjoyable talk last year about his experiences working in the railway industry.

6th October - URC Hall - The Rail Blue Era - John Day. A welcome return to Norwich for

20th October - Zoom - Czech Railways over the last 10 years - Robert Pritchard, Editor, Railways Today UK, joins us again to share more of his travels in the Czech Republic.

3rd November - URC Hall - The Central Wales Line and Rails around Swansea - NRS members Chris Mitchell and Gareth Phillips entertain us this evening.

17th November - URC Hall - Annual General Meeting followed by Railway Roundup 20211 by Chris Eve with a compilation of his videos. Do check out Chris's YouTube channel.

1st December - URC Hall - Railwayana presentation by Barry Gayton.

​15th December - URC Hall - A David Pearce presentation - details to follow.

5th January - Zoom - The Abbey Line - Watford to St Albans by David Horton, former Abfly chairman and member of Bricket Wood Station Heritage Trust

Meetings on 19th January and 2nd, 16th February will also be online on Zoom only. Details to follow.

2nd March - URC Hall - The Wherry Lines - A Personal View & Exploring the Elizabeth Line by Andrew Wright.

16th March - URC Hall - 

6th April - URC Hall - 

20th April - URC Hall - A talk by George Falkner, member of Great Eastern Railway Society. Full details to follow.


No meeting on 5th May due to local government elections.

18th May - URC Hall - Visit from Ipswich and District Historical Transport Society.

NRS Transport Group 2022/23
Meetings resume at URC Hall, Ipswich Road, Norwich on Thursday 22nd Spetember  2022 at 19.30. Organised by a group of NRS members these meetings cover a range of transport topics, not just railways. Members and non-members welcome. Pay on the night.
